As its name suggests, a flat-bottomed polyester shell pool offers you the same water height (between 1.2 and 1.6m) whatever your position in the pool. Considered the most popular option, it is particularly recommended for young children. Indeed, the flat bottom allows young bathers to play safely, while adults can swim. Beware, however, that this type of bottom can be dangerous for diving enthusiasts!
In terms of aesthetics, the color of the water in flat-bottom pools has the advantage of varying with the depth of the pool… Which is not the case with sloped-bottom pools !
Finally, in addition to making pool construction flat bottoms are much easier to maintain. In fact, thanks to its flat surface, with no corners capable of storing waste, your robot moves more easily.
As you can see, apart from the fact that they are not suitable for aquatic activities, flat-bottom flat-bottomed pools represent a choice alternative for future swimmers!
Sloped-bottom pools: advantages and disadvantages
Unlike the flat-bottom sloped-bottom polyester pool is ideal for sport swimming and diving. Indeed, the gently sloping bottom (also called progressive bottom) is gradually inclined along the entire length of the pool. As a result, the depth of your pool will not be the same at all points. For example, the depth on one side can vary between 1 and 1.5 m, while on the other it can be as much as 1.5 to 2 m deep!
Choose a sloping bottom is a wise choice for homeowners who want both a play area for the kids and a comfortable space for swimming and diving. But be sure to keep an eye on your children when they’re swimming! With the variation in depth, children can slide towards the deepest part and risk drowning. To avoid such an accident, you can install a ledge around the pool to make standing more comfortable.
